Friday Five: Five Things to Do at Boardwalk Inn

Each resort at Disney World has a unique theme and feel to it. Some are more "over the top" Disney like the Value Resorts with their larger than life Disney icons!  With more subtle theming, the Moderate Resorts and the Deluxe Resorts have a different feel. Today we're taking a closer look at Disney's Boardwalk Inn, a beautiful Deluxe Resort in the Epcot area.

With its great location near Epcot and Hollywood Studios, Boardwalk Inn is a great choice for a resort. Some recent comments about Boardwalk Inn:  "I love the view of the Yacht & Beach Club at night all lit up. Also love how close the Resort is to the lake. The rooms are light colors and fresh, and the beds are comfortable."

Now, what things should you do while staying at Boardwalk Inn?

1. Get a drink and people watch on the Boardwalk! Pop over to BoardWalk Joe's Marvelous Margaritas and get a margarita or pina colada, or head to the Pizza Window for a beer, sangria or wine! Find a shady spot near the resort, a table by the water, and enjoy some quiet down time or people watch.

2. Enjoy evening entertainment. Boardwalk is known for its evening entertainment, and as dusk approaches, magicians and various entertainers will set up. We've enjoyed jugglers, magicians, and stilt walkers. They love to involve the audience, and both my husband and my son have participated. It's free and fun and a great way to pass the evening.

3. Get a delicious bakery item for breakfast. A visit to the Boardwalk Bakery is a must when you stay at Boardwalk Inn. While they have tasty salads and sandwiches, my favorite is a huge cinnamon bun or other bakery treat for breakfast! We like to buy these the night before and have them ready for breakfast in the room the next morning. Boardwalk Bakery is also a great place to use up those snack credits with cupcakes, cake pops, and other great treats as well as a location to fill up your refillable mug from your dining plan.

4. Eat at a Boardwalk restaurant or have a date night. Flying Fish is a great location for a date night. Lovely menu with seafood and steaks, this restaurant consistently gets good reviews. Trattoria al Forno is also a good option for either a date night or just a family dinner! Not ready to call it a night? How about a drink in Abracadabar? This bar has a very unique menu you can order some fun drinks like The Conjurita where it changes colors from dark purple to light lavender as its mixed! If you're looking for even more fun, check out Jelly Rolls, a dueling piano bar, and Atlantic Dance Hall for some late night fun! If you're idea of date night is ice cream and a walk, don't miss Ample Hills Creamery.

5. Enjoy a day at the resort! I always like to have a down day during my Disney vacation. The pool at Boardwalk Inn has the fastest slide on Disney property! The roller coaster slide does end by coming out of the giant clown's mouth, but if that doesn't creep you out, it's really fun! On the Boardwalk, rent a 4-person surrey bike and circle the lake, or walk over to Fantasia Gardens and play a round of mini-golf.

Watch out! These brooms and buckets will spray water on you at Fantasia Gardens.

Boardwalk Inn is light and bright inside, and the rooms are large and most can sleep five people. There's a great  view of the Yacht & Beach Clubs across the lake--it's beautiful at night! Additionally, you have lots of additional options for dining including the fun Beaches & Cream.
