Friday Five: Five Favorite Snacks at Disney World

I don’t know about you, but I like food. I especially like food at Disney World and some the yummy snacks you can find there. Disney World is packed with fabulous snack options regardless if you’re using snack credits from the dining plans or just grabbing something quick between rides! I tried to choose the top five, but it’s really hard!

5. Pretzels: You can find these at several places around the parks! I like the ones that are Mickey shaped; these are large soft pretzels! There are also harder pretzels, German style, found in Sommerfest in the Germany pavilion.

Want to go a little crazy? Try the jalapeno cheese pretzel at Harambe Fruit Market (Animal Kingdom) or a sweet cream cheese pretzel at Lunching Pad (Magic Kingdom).

4. Churro: Just the smell of these is enough to suck you in! What’s not to love about fried dough in long sticks rolled in cinnamon sugar? These can be found at several locations in Hollywood Studios (including the snack counter in the Fantasmic! amphitheater), at the Frontierland Churro Cart in Magic Kingdom, and at Coronado Springs Resort.

My favorites, and the most authentic, are in the Mexico pavilion at Epcot!  At Cantina de San Angel (quick service in Mexico pavilion), you can even get them with caramel dipping sauce!

3. Sleepy Hollow Waffle: This is my personal favorite! At Sleepy Hollow (Liberty Square in Magic Kingdom), you can find Belgian waffles with cinnamon or waffles with strawberries and whipped cream, but the Nutella one with fruit is the best! Best.Thing.Ever! Truly, it’s almost just a meal—Nutella (hazelnut and chocolate) has a little protein, and fruit is just healthy, right?
Just brimming with healthiness, right?

2. Mickey Bar: This was the second most popular snack when I surveyed the Disney vacation planners at Wishdrawals!

There’s nothing amazing here—it’s vanilla ice covered in a chocolate shell…except that it’s in a Mickey shape and it’s on a stick and somehow so much better! Like the pretzels and the churros, it has the benefit of being a great snack for when you’re watching a parade or just walking between attractions at a park!

1. Dole Whip: I would bet most of you are not surprised that this is the top snack pick! Nearly everyone loves a Dole Whip.

The Dole Whip love first started in Disneyland in 1963 when Dole partnered with Disney and later opened in Magic Kingdom. Dole Whip is a delicious soft serve non-dairy pineapple treat!  You can find these at the Aloha Isle (Adventureland near The Magic Carpets of Aladdin) or at Pineapple Lanai at the Polynesian Village Resort. You can also have it as a Pineapple Float; during Food & Wine Festival, sometimes it is at Epcot with rum added to it!

I can’t forget some of the honorable mentions though:
  • Frozen banana chocolate-covered with nuts (Anandapur Frozen Treats in Animal Kingdom (or try the unfrozen version at Big Tops Treats in Fantasyland in Magic Kingdom)
  • Popcorn
  • Chocolates in Germany
  • Anything at the Boulangerie (France pavilion, Epcot)
  • Ice cream sundae at The Plaza (Main Street, Magic Kingdom)
  • Cinnamon roll at Gaston’s (Fantasyland, Magic Kingdom).

Since calories don’t actually count while you’re on vacation at Disney World, make sure you try one or two (or three!) of these on your next visit!
