Captivated by Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar

Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar--this is one place you should not miss on a visit to Disneyland. Located at Disneyland Hotel, it's hard to even describe--South Seas and The Jungle Cruise ride combined with crazy-sounding drink names and the loud noises of volcanoes erupting. It's a place that touches all your senses!

It wouldn't be Disney without a backstory, right? The story is that Trader Sam, who was made famous by his appearance in the Jungle Cruise ride with his offer of "two of his heads for one of yours," decided to open a tiki bar. The skippers at the Jungle Cruise Navigational Company helped decorate the bar with artifacts from all over the world!

While Trader Sam's does have a unique but small menu, most people find their way here for the drinks! If you are in the mood for food, try a Pu Pu Platter (sweet and spicy wings, sausage bites, Panko-crusted green beans), Hawaiian cheeseburger, or a kahlua pork sandwich.

My friend, Heather, and I had four fun-filled days at Disneyland in November. We were there for Disney's Earmarked Conference, and it was our first visit to Trader Sam's! We were there to test out the drink menu!

souvenir tiki glass!
We tried the Hippopoto-Mai-Tai and the Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Rum. (To all those who are now singing "in the tiki tiki tiki tiki tiki room...," you're welcome.) The Hippopoto-Mai-Tai even includes that awesome souvenir glass!

Order the Krakatoa Punch, and the volcano begins to erupt. Order the Uh Oah! and the bartenders spray water in the air. Feel like a Shrunken Zombie Head instead? Not only is there a cool souvenir cup but, the most unusual bar trick of all is triggered!

This is a place that has to be experienced, so make sure to stop in during your next Disneyland trip. Families are welcome until 8 pm; after that, it's only open to those ages 21 and up. If you're headed to Disney World any time soon, stop by and visit the newest Trader Sam's, Trader Sam's Grog Grotto, that opened at the Polynesian Village Resort in 2015!
