Feeling the Love for the Disney Skyliner

I love the new Skyliner at Disney. It makes traveling to a park feel like an attraction! On our last trip we stayed at the Riviera Resort, so we could experience what it’s like to use the Skyliner as a primary mode of transpiration. Currently, under Covid operating procedures, there is no bus as a back up for Epcot and Hollywood Studios when you are at a Skyliner resort which includes Pop Century, Art of Animation, Caribbean Beach, and Riviera Resort.  So, like it or not, you will rely solely on the Skyliner for two parks during your stay unless you have a car or want to use an Uber or Lyft option. Here are some Pros and Cons to consider if you plan to stay at one of Disney’s resorts on the Skyliner.

PROS

• The Skyliner is a fun way to travel!  You get some awesome and unique views of the parks.  

• Skyliner is constantly running, so you don’t wonder when the bus will arrive. You see your progress and continuously move through the line.  

• Under current Covid protocol, each party gets their own gondola.  This can make the line longer, but it provides a safe space for your travel party.

CONS

• Connecting resorts have to wait in an additional line when a transfer is required at the Caribbean Beach Resort Station.  This can cause some long lines especially early in the day as parks are opening.  Just to be clear because there has been a lot of misinformation:  You will have to wait in line at Caribbean Beach even though you have already waited in line at Pop/Art of Animation or Riviera!  

• Skyliner shuts down in bad weather.

• Prices at Skyliner resorts have increased to reflect this additional mode of transportation.

There is also a Skyliner station at the back gate of Epcot, so the Epcot resorts, Boardwalk Inn, Beach Club Resort, and Yacht Club Resort are technically Skyliner resorts as well. However, because guests staying there can walk to Epcot and Hollywood Studios as well as the option to use the boats to Hollywood Studios, these are unique in that they don't solely rely on the Skyliner.

Overall, I think the Skyliner is an awesome addition to the Disney transportation system!  Check it out on your next visit!
