During its last drydock, the Disney Fantasy added Sweet on You to the pool deck--an (upcharge) ice cream and sweets shop! This was following in the footsteps of Vanellope's Sweets & Treats that was added on the Disney Dream a few years back. Both sweet shops are located just outside Cabanas on the pool deck.
On both ships, Disney Cruise Line replaced the existing arcade (which wasn't getting much use) with the sweet shops. In all our cruises, no one in my family had ever stepped foot in the arcade, so I don't blame Disney for replacing it with something else!
Now, normally I don't like upcharge items being added to my cruises, but as long as there are still comparable options included, I'm ok with it. In this case, you can still get all you can eat soft serve ice cream on the pool deck at Eye Scream Treats as well as regular scoops of ice cream in Cabanas. The main dining rooms still have ice cream available, too.
Gelato on this side! |
Look at all these flavors! |
My family was on the Fantasy in January, and I thought we needed to try it. It is bright and cheerful and welcoming! In the coolers you can find many flavors of gelato and ice cream, cupcakes, macarons, Mickey apples, and more. I think there were 20 flavors each of gelato and ice cream! Our cruise was a Star Wars Day at Sea cruise, so we even had Star Wars themed cupcakes!
The menu includes a made to order ice cream sandwich, milkshakes, gelato and ice cream scoops, and their signature sundae! For $12.99, you get a sundae with three scoops of ice cream or gelato, up to 5 toppings, whipped cream, a cherry, AND you get to keep the sundae bowl! They have both Mickey and Minnie options.
This was a fun treat. My husband and I split it while my son had a regular two-scoop bowl. It was really pretty and fun to eat! We didn't love one of the ice cream flavors, but there was none left at the end.
